Credentials

Joe grew up in Durham, North Carolina and began playing golf at Hillandale in 1968. He began working at Hillandale for Luke Veasey in 1969 and remained at Hillandale until 1978 when he went to work at Croasdaile Country Club. Joe attended and played collegiate golf at Sandhills Community College in Southern Pines, NC and Coastal Carolina College in Conway, SC.

After college, Joe worked in the Life Safety and Security Industry for 35 years. He joined the Hillandale team part-time in the Spring of 2021 and has now moved into a second career with the Hillandale Staff as an Assistant Golf Professional.

Joe's philosophy is to teach the fundamentals of the golf swing and short game skills.  He welcomes beginners and intermediate golfers interested in learning golf and will be also assisting with the development of our Junior Golf program.  He has recently attained his Level 2 Certification from U.S. Kids and is continuing their certification process.
